2. Presentation: Espionage Defense (7pm-8pm)

Nick Levay will give an overview of the espionage threat actor landscape, dive into common TTPs (tools, tactics, procedures) employed by such actors, and the defenses that can be successful in counting attacks.  This talk will focus on a model for viewing the attacker process that can inform strategy for constructing defenses and the tactics that can be employed, ranging from technology solutions to process, procedure, and preparation.

Nick Levay is the Chief Security Officer of Bit9, a leading provider of endpoint security solutions.  His specialties are Technical Operations and Cyber Counterintelligence.  He takes a threat centric approach to security, focused on understanding actors, their tactics, and risk exposure to organizations.  He has over fifteen years of experience working in environments ranging from Internet service providers to think-tank organizations.  Prior to Bit9, Nick was the Director of Technical Operations and Information Security at the Center for American Progress in Washington, DC.  Nick is a Certified Information Systems Security Professional and holds a degree in Communications.
