Announcement of the monthly Triad NC ISSA chapter meeting for April:

Cost: Free for Triad ISSA Chapter Members and First Time Visitors. $10 for returning visitors.  Dinner will be provided.

This month’s meeting you are invited to a special showing of “The Company Man”, a new video produced by the FBI’s Counterintelligence Division to raise awareness in the business sector about the threat posed to the U.S. economy and the theft of trade secrets.  Based on a true 2012 FBI investigation involving a mid-sized U.S. company which ended in the successful conviction of two Chinese nationals who attempted to bribe an employee to provide trade secrets.

 

Presenting will be Special Agent (SA) Brent Underwood of the United States Naval Criminal Investigative Service (NCIS).  SA Underwood has over 19 years of law enforcement experience at the local, state, and Federal levels.  SA Underwood is currently tasked to provide Research, Development, and Acquisition protection for Department of Defense technologies throughout North Carolina.  He is a representative of Red Dart, an FBI-supported program created to better educate the private sector on counterintelligence techniques.  He holds a B.S. degree in Criminal Justice and a M.A. in Political Science.

ISSA Triad of NC

The Information Systems Security Association is a not-for-profit, international organization of information security professionals and practitioners. It provides educational forums, publications, and peer interaction opportunities that enhance the knowledge, skill, and professional growth of its members.

The Triad of NC chapter provides a local resource for information security professionals to get together, learn new things, and develop relationships with others in the industry. If you are involved in information security, full or part time, or are simply interested in the subject, this organization is a great way to learn and grow.

 

The Triad of NC chapter meets the 4th Thursday of each month January – October and the 2nd Thursday in November and December.  Meeting venues are generally rotated monthly between Dynamic Quest in Greensboro and Forsyth Technical Community College in Winston-Salem.
