Announcement of the monthly Triad NC ISSA chapter meeting for April:

 

When: Thursday, May 28th, 2015, 6-8 PM

Where:   Forsyth Technical Community College

2100 Silas Creek Parkway

Oak Grove Center – Room 3358

Winston-Salem, NC

Cost: Free for Triad ISSA Chapter Members and First Time Visitors. $10 for returning visitors.  Dinner will be provided.

2. Chapter business (6:45 pm to 7 pm)

Microsegmentation refers to creating secure communication zones over an existing network infrastructure.  Microsegmentation is accomplished by abstracting the underlying components and reduce operational complexity through decoupling the security and transport functions.

Presenting will be Geoff Guy of Unisys:

Mr. Guy has spent his entire career rolling his sleeves back and digging into information technology.  Over the past two decades, he has consulted with organizations of all sizes, including two of the world’s largest banks, Wells Fargo and Bank of America.  During this time, he’s experienced the evolution of information security from the perspective of an engineer, a business owner, and everything in between.   In his current role as a cybersecurity specialist for Unisys, he applies his expertise and broad knowledge across multiple industries to help organizations more effectively protect their critical assets.  He currently resides in Charlotte, NC.

ISSA Triad of NC

The Information Systems Security Association is a not-for-profit, international organization of information security professionals and practitioners. It provides educational forums, publications, and peer interaction opportunities that enhance the knowledge, skill, and professional growth of its members.

The Triad of NC chapter provides a local resource for information security professionals to get together, learn new things, and develop relationships with others in the industry. If you are involved in information security, full or part time, or are simply interested in the subject, this organization is a great way to learn and grow.

 

The Triad of NC chapter meets the 4th Thursday of each month January – October and the 2nd Thursday in November and December.  Meeting venues are generally rotated monthly between Dynamic Quest in Greensboro and Forsyth Technical Community College in Winston-Salem.
