We are continually hearing about all the things we need to do and why in order to be successful at developing a disaster recovery or business continuity plan. And with all the varied business and government sectors and their uniqueness, the “things to do” can number in the thousands of tasks that must be addressed. Tim Lord will take a different approach and present the few things that if not addressed will lead to a high degree of probability you and your organization will not be successful in establishing and maintaining viable plans. The presentation is a consensus of Tim’s experience of working and discussing planning with hundreds of companies and organizations over his 40+ years in the planning industry as both a planner and vendor.

BIO

Tim Lord, CBCP and CEO of CPO, Inc.

Tim has over 45 years in the Business and IT environment with 40 of those years involved in developing and maintaining both disaster recovery and business continuity plans for domestic and international organizations, public and private.

Tim was the corporate DR/BC Planner for Policy Management Systems, Inc, from which he retired after 31 years, in April 2000.  One of Tim’s last assignments was an opportunity to work with Lockheed Martin where he was selected to develop a disaster recovery plan for a major software system Lockheed was developing for the FBI. As a result, Tim was processed for a top secret clearance and worked at FBI Headquarters in Washington, DC and at the FBI data center in Clarksburg, WV.

After retirement from PMSC, Tim formed CPO (Contingency Planning and Outsourcing, Inc.). Tim brought Rick Fosnacht into CPO as a partner in July 2000 to re-develop Tim’s prototype of a software system supporting his unique and proven methodology for disaster recovery and business continuity planning. The result was a preparedness management software tool known as CPOtracker™ that has taken CPO to a respectable place in the planning industry. It is being used in over a 1,000 client locations around the world.

Tim attended the University of SC, is a U.S. Army veteran, and earned his CBCP in May of 1994. He resides in Columbia, SC and may be reached at: Tim.Lord@CPOtracker.com or (803)-712-6105. The CPO, Inc. web site is: www.CPOtracker.com.
