Abstract:
Lori will discuss roles/functions in a SOC, and the skills desired in candidates and those developed onboard. She will offer measures of success and how to inspire loyalty and therefore retainability.
Lori has made a considerable transformation in the Hanesbrands SOC using these fundamentals- and she would love to share and inspire others to trial them in their environments to replicate success.
Presenter’s Biography:
Lori Cole is a security operations manager currently working for Hanesbrands Inc. (yes, she protects underwear) in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. She is a U.S. Army veteran, former NSA intelligence analyst, and passionate STEM educator. She is a data scientist who focuses on applying machine learning to cyber data sets and enjoys trying to solve difficult problems smartly. She is a PhD candidate with her dissertation centric to business ethics, as this is sometimes a grey area in cyberspace. She married her best friend and they coparent the best children ever together, and she loves puppies and pizza.

The Triad of NC chapter provides a local resource for information security professionals to get together, learn new things, and develop relationships with others in the industry. The Triad of NC chapter meets the 4th Thursday of each month January – October and the 2nd Thursday in November and December. Meeting venues are generally rotated monthly between ECPI in Greensboro and Forsyth Technical Community College in Winston-Salem.
